spiderblush: INSIDE HER WEB

spiderblush, the 22 year old singer-songwriter has completely transcended boundaries within the music world and has resonated with audiences worldwide. With a core of indie-rock and various elements of pop and alternative, she’s a gifted, translational artist with a sound that’s uniquely her own. Although her rise has only been from around 1 year of pure consistency, her journey has been lifelong. She’s followed a consistent unwavering path of creating, where every song pushes for our own introspection. spiderblush is a testament to pure artistic expression and the vulnerability of being human. As of today spiderblush is at 50k monthly Spotify listeners, finished a successful tour and has amassed over hundreds of thousands of streams. But, every story of success has a beginning.

spiderblush has always been a true lover of the arts. Ever since she was a kid, whether it was writing mini songs, or making small movies with her friends and family, creativity has always been her calling. “I was always writing stories and poems. I was a pretty introverted kid [and] I moved schools every year. I didn’t have many long term friends, and I would be alone a lot, so writing was how I expressed myself.” Admittedly, she expressed that growing up she didn’t have much exposure to the world. “My parents listened to one radio station, and they didn’t put me on to many of the cult classics. So I’ve had to experiment with different things and learn where I fit.” spiderblush was born in Indiana, and currently resides in Tampa, Florida. For college she moved across the country to study creative writing and acting in California. It’s very apparent her passion has always been at the front of her head since the beginning.

Aspirations for this young mogul came from various other artists like beabadoobee. “I love all of her music and writing styles. I truly admire her versatility and the variety of songs she puts out.” spiderblush also found comfort and inspiration in film. She found herself loving coming of age films in college, and admired the cinematography and storylines that inspired her work. When it came to creating her iconic name it stemmed from quaint interests as a child. “I made the name spiderblush when I was 19,” she states “I really liked the visuals of spiders growing up. I wanted to combine it with a positive word and incorporate a more positive connotation to the name.”

Her first songs were written when she was around 8 or 9, but her real start was around 14 years old. She picked up guitar and ukulele, and has been writing ever since. Although she’s only 22, she put her first song out publicly at just 19. Although she’s received great success with her craft, she admits the faults that come with the work. “Sometimes it can be hard to be creative. You can feel like you’re stuck. I try to write everyday and pick up my guitar. My song, ‘Big Deal’ came really naturally because I was going through a lot at the time.” These limitations never stopped her. She admits she’d still be writing and making songs even if she didn’t put them out.

Now, with an extensive music portfolio, the grind is nowhere near finished for spiderblush. Even after finishing her latest tour, and opening for fellow artist Abby Sage, she continues to create endlessly. Her newest EP Ways Parted has been at the forefront for her listeners. The one thing she wants people to know is the beauty behind your art, specifically the importance of it all. “I realized if you’re really passionate about what you do, you can do it. It’s not only limited to certain people in this world. There’s never anything you can’t do.”
