Life Mimics Art: Perspectives From Kaido

Life Mimics Art: Perspectives From Kaido

“It transcribes what we feel at the moment, what we want to show, what we think, our insecurities, our love, our opinions, and in a way that’s what creativity is for.”

Kaido, a creative phenom from Paris, France, is a video editor that documents life from an abstract and futuristic perspective. Her love stems from the creation of a scene, which in her process is planned long before she touches the camera. Whether it’s a shoot for a brand or straight from her mind, her work encompasses alternative perspectives of life, as well as the beauty of the youth. From admiring art as a kid to full video creation, she knew she always had a passion to create no matter the medium.

In the height of the pandemic, Kaido found herself falling in love with making edits of her own clips and from film. The more she kept at it, the more she found new ways to create. This transpired to her honing her craft and starting film school. “Overall, I’ve always been creative since I was little. I always had a thing for art. It was a good thing for me and I felt I should go for it.” Kaido’s direct inspiration is and always has been music. It helped her cultivate all of her work and inspired her to direct her own pieces. “It always helps a lot to imagine. I always create images in my head and try my best to make them exist.”

The importance of creativity comes directly from striving to feel some sort of relief. “For me, it’s really important to stay in touch with creativity as it’s something that makes you happy and soothes you. It’s not necessarily beautiful to everyone, but as long as the artist is satisfied with themself, that’s enough to make it beautiful.”

Kaido’s work encompasses many alternative aesthetics and imagery that is unique to her mind. Every scene and clip showcases a new world, group, or perspective that grabs every viewer and creates desire for more. Her words for those who aspire to do something similar to her are raw and truly transformative. “You can make things happen as long as you exist. You can create whatever you want with whatever you have on your hands. And that’s how you will grow as an artist. Always try to do better and get bigger. Be surrounded by people that support you.”
